Multiple Lights. One Solar Panel. One Clean Roofline.

The illume Multisystem connects up to nine illume light panels to a single, larger rooftop solar collector. Instead of crowding your roof with individual panels, the system distributes solar power through a control module and distribution module (sometimes called the splitter) to each light panel inside your home.

The result is a clean roofline, consistent light performance across all rooms, and a single installation footprint on your roof. For Sunshine Coast homeowners dealing with multi-storey layouts, internal rooms, or a renovation that touches several spaces at once, this is often the most practical approach.

Because the illume system requires no roof penetrations, there is no risk of water ingress, no shaft cutting through insulation, and no heat transfer between inside and outside. The light panels are only 10mm thick, sitting flush with your plasterboard ceiling.

Simple by Design

The illume Multisystem follows a straightforward configuration that keeps roof work to a minimum and delivers reliable natural light across every connected room.

1 Solar Collector on the Roof

A single, larger solar panel is installed on a north-facing section of your roof. No cutting into the roof structure is needed. The cable run can be extended to suit almost any layout, including south-facing rooms or lower storeys.

2 Power Distributed via the Module

The solar energy feeds into a control module, then into the distribution module (splitter). From here, power is channelled separately to each illume light panel inside your home.

3 Light Panels Installed in the Ceiling

Each illume panel is flush-fitted into your ceiling. At just 10mm thick, they sit at the same depth as standard plasterboard. No shafts, no ducts, no structural work required.

What the illume Multisystem Offers

Designed for homes that need more light in more places, without more complexity on the roof.

Up to Nine Light Panels Per System

A single solar collector can power up to nine illume panels, depending on panel size and power requirements. Suncoast Skylights will assess your home and configure the system appropriately to your needs.

No Roof Penetrations

Unlike traditional skylights or solar tube systems, the illume Multisystem does not require holes in your roof structure. This eliminates the risk of leaks, maintains insulation integrity, and protects against heat gain and loss.

Optional Dimming and Night Mode

Add an RF receiver and AC driver module to your setup, and you can use the illume Remote Dimming Switch to adjust brightness or turn panels on and off. An AC driver module also allows the lights to run from mains power after dark.

Solar-Powered with No Ongoing Running Costs

During daylight hours, the system runs entirely on solar energy. There are no ongoing electricity costs for normal daytime use. Light output responds naturally to external conditions, brightening and dimming with the sun.

Suitable for Multi-Storey and Commercial Buildings

The cable between the solar panel and the distribution module can be run to any length. This makes the Multisystem well-suited to multi-storey homes, ground-floor rooms, commercial spaces, and any area without direct roof access.

One Clean Roofline

Rather than installing a separate solar panel for each light, the Multisystem consolidates everything into a single panel. The visual result is a tidier roof, particularly noticeable on homes with multiple rooms requiring light.

How illume Skylights Work

Is an illume Multisystem Right for Your Property?

The Multisystem tends to suit particular property types and situations. Here are the scenarios where it works especially well on the Sunshine Coast.

Ground-floor rooms under a second storey have no direct access to the roof. The illume system solves this; the solar panel sits on the roof, and the cable runs down to wherever the panel is installed.

If you are updating a kitchen, hallway, bathroom, and robe in one renovation, the Multisystem lets you address all of them under one installation, one solar panel, and one visit from the installer.

Rooms that sit in the middle of a floor plan, with no direct exposure to the roof, are a natural fit. The cable can be routed through roof cavities to reach the panel wherever it needs to go.

Cafes, offices, retail spaces, and other commercial settings benefit from the system’s scalability. Multiple panels can cover a large floor plate without a cluster of solar collectors appearing on the roofline.

If your key living areas face south, the solar collector can be placed on the north-facing side of the roof, with the cable run to any room below. Sunshine Coast sun on the north-facing pitch can power panels anywhere in the home.

Some homes have metal roofing, heritage materials, or warranties that make cutting into the roof undesirable. Because Illume requires no penetrations, the roof remains entirely intact after installation.

Frequently Asked Questions About illume Multisystems

A standard illume installation pairs one light panel with one dedicated solar collector. An illume Multisystem uses a larger solar panel and a distribution module to power multiple light panels from a single rooftop unit. This suits homes or buildings that need more than one panel installed, as it avoids placing a separate solar collector on the roof for every light.

Up to nine illume panels can be connected to a single solar collector, though the exact number depends on the panel sizes selected and the total power requirements of the system. During your free quote, Suncoast Skylights will assess your requirements and recommend the appropriate configuration for your home.

Yes. Because the illume system uses a cable rather than a physical shaft, the solar collector can be installed on the roof and the cable run down to ground-floor rooms. This makes the Multisystem one of the few practical natural-light solutions for ground-floor spaces in multi-storey homes that have no direct roof access above them.

No. The solar collector sits on the roof surface without cutting through the structure. Only a small cable passes through the roof space, which does not compromise weather resistance or insulation. This is one of the key practical benefits of the illume system for homeowners concerned about leaks or roof warranty conditions.

By default, the illume system only operates during daylight hours as it runs entirely on solar power. However, you can add an AC driver module to the setup, which allows the panels to draw from mains power after dark. This is an optional accessory and can be included in your installation if required.

Unfortunately, it is not straightforward to add panels to an existing illume system after installation, as the solar collector is sized to match the panels it was originally configured with. If you think you may want additional panels down the track, it is best to plan for them up front. Suncoast Skylights can advise on the right system size during your quote.

Yes. The Multisystem is well-suited to commercial and light-commercial environments such as offices, cafes, studios, and retail spaces where multiple internal rooms or areas need lighting without extensive roof work. Suncoast Skylights has experience working with commercial clients across the Sunshine Coast.

Suncoast Skylights installs illume systems and other skylight products across the Sunshine Coast, including Noosa, Maroochydore, Buderim, Caloundra, Peregian Beach, Coolum, and surrounding regions. If you are unsure whether your area is covered, get in touch, and the team can confirm availability for your location.

Installation time varies depending on the number of panels and the complexity of the cable routing, particularly in multi-storey homes. Most residential Multisystem installations are completed within a single day. Suncoast Skylights will give you a clear timeframe when booking your installation.

The illume product range comes with manufacturer warranties. Suncoast Skylights also backs its installation work with a workmanship guarantee.
